Care guide
Look after it,
and it'll outlast the sauna.
Wool felt is forgiving but particular. Hot water ruins it. A little care keeps it right for years.
Do
- Spot-clean with a damp cloth.
Cold water and a drop of mild soap will lift sweat and oils without stripping the wool.
- Air-dry away from direct heat.
Not on the radiator. Not in the dryer. Heat is what felts wool — too much and the hat shrinks.
- Store flat or on a rounded surface.
A bowl, a head form, a balled-up towel. Anything that keeps the crown rounded rather than collapsed.
- Brush gently to restore the nap.
If the felt looks flat after heavy use, a soft brush in circular motion will lift the fibres back up.
Don't
- ✕Machine-wash — even on cold.
- ✕Tumble-dry.
- ✕Iron directly.
- ✕Wring it out — press between towels instead.
- ✕Leave it crumpled in a bag overnight.
